I received a quote in my inbox this morning from a car shipping company. But how do I know if it is the best price?

I understand that with cars you can't store your belongings.  What about with motorcycles? Can I store my items? Can't I just purchase additional insurance coverage?

I'm traveling to New Orleans from Dallas for a convention. Instead of paying high prices for plane tickets, I wanted to know if I can ride with the driver while my car is being shipped? But first, I need to stop over in Washington, D.C. for a couple of days before heading towards New Orleans.

Here are my scheduled date requests:

July 22 - 24 Washington D.C. - Music Concert
July 26 - 29 New Orleans - Convention
August 1st - Back to Dallas, TX

I'm shipping another vehicle this month to a music festival that I'm participating in. To save time, I would like to leave my bass guitar and my laptop in the back seat.  The transport company told me I couldn't. I have a storage underneath the back seat of my car.  It's my belongings and my car, I feel that I have the right to leave what I want in it, I'm the one who's paying for it.

Why is it so important that I get a copy of the Bill of Lading?   I don't know about you, but I believe that transporting companies should develop an e-Bill of Lading ..this will help save a few trees - less paper.

I have a very busy schedule and I’m afraid that I may not be available for the delivery of my car. 

I filled up my car with a full tank of gas.  One of the shipping companies that I called said that I have to make sure that I only a 1/4 tank of gas.  At $4 per gallon, I can’t afford to drain $40 worth of gas.  Will the shipping company reimburse me for this?  I don’t have money to waste.
