Make sure that all cabin windows are closed and taped on the outside. The windshield has to be removed, packed and secured below the cabin.
And if you are shipping a powerboat, remove all propellers, lights, antennas, and outriggers. Have a boat that is low height? Make sure that you remove the wheels, windshields and light masts. Also, each part of the trailer touching the deck must be padded properly in order to avoid damage.
Make sure you remove all canvas covers and store them separately to avoid tearing during shipment. Remember that hatches and doors must be tied or taped on the outside to avoid leaking from rainwater.
