A co-worker of mine told me that he was charged to receive a car shipping quote.  I've been searching on the web for the past couple of days and I've found several sites that offer free car shipping quotes.  Why do some companies charge for quotes while others do not?

Your friend should demand his/her money back because they should not have been charged for a quote.  Quotes are free. Any site that charges people for a car shipping quote is not a company that you want to do business with.
