No offense to the ladies – never hire a woman to ship your car.  Why? Because they won’t.  I desperately needed to ship my car from my office to my home in Newark, NJ.  I explained to the car shipping company – in advance – that I had brake problems.  When the truck driver tested the brakes before driving it onto the ramp of the truck, she refused to load and ship my car.  Her excuse was,”You have no brakes. Sorry sir, according to our company policy, we can not load a vehicle that doesn’t roll, steer, or brake.”  In response, I said, "You have no brains. Ship my car or else."

I called other car shipping companies close to my job and explained the situation and they told me I had to get my brakes fixed first. Hog Wash! Do you have any advice? I really need to get my car shipped.

Truck drivers have a right to refuse to ship your car if it doesn't roll, steer, or brake. It might not have been a problem to load the car but the driver could have had problems unloading the vehicle, especially a vehicle without brakes.  My advice ...get your brakes fixed. It's that simple.

Try another shipper and refer to car as an INOP (inoperable) unit. Although most INOPs will not either run or steer because your car will not stop it is difficult to load and unload. However this car can easly be loaded and unloaded with a winch. There is usually an additional charge for INOPs but in your case may be worth a little extra.

Good Luck.
