Every car shipping company is different.  So, you may be required to leave a deposit when you have decided on the company you will use. Some car shippers may ask for a partial or full deposit.  You should consider getting extra insurance in case your automobile gets damaged during the car transport.

Everyone wants to save as much money as possible.  However, if you try to go cheaper, by not getting an insurance policy, it may cost you an arm and a leg in the long run.  So, make sure you get an exact car-shipping quote to cover all your options so that you can plan your budget wisely.

The estimated car shipping rates that most companies are around $150 - $200 deposit depending if you are getting open carrier or enclosed car transport.  Keep in mind that an enclosed car transport may be more expensive. I got an auto transport service from a transporter company and they did not charge anything upfront.

When a car shipping company does charge a deposit upfront, they normally require that you pay the remainder of the cost when the auto transport carriers delivers your vehicle to your location. If you’re not charged by the auto transporters, then the whole amount will be do at time of delivery.

Auto shipping insurance differs from company-to-company and each company has their own set policy. Before confirming your date for shipping the automobile, find out what shipping insurance the company has available. There are two types, foreign and domestic auto shipping insurance. Your car will be protected from damage with this auto shipping insurance.

The auto shipping company that you choose may have either a primary insurance policy or an excess insurance policy. An excess insurance policy will cover the amount that your own insurance won’t cover for you. A primary policy will cover the damages to your car in the event of any damages no matter what your own personal car insurance covers.
